7 Organic Skin Care Tips for Fall and Winter

Fall and winter are the harshest times of the year for our skin. The skin needs extra care during these seasons to keep it moisturized. Follow these fall and winter organic skin care tips to help your skin stay healthy and radiant throughout the holiday season and into the New Year.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Help your skin stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. Take a bottle of water, juice or tea with you when you leave the house. When it’s cold, hot herbal tea can do wonders. Drinking copious amounts of liquids will hydrate your skin enough that you will maintain a healthy glow on even the coldest winter days.

2. Remove Dead Skin Cells with Regular Exfoliation

A body and facial scrub can remove dead skin cells, keep your skin feeling fresh. Expensive products aren’t necessary. Create an exfoliant recipe by using items you can find in your kitchen.

3. Apply Organic Products to Moisturize

After exfoliating your skin, you need to moisturize it. There are various all natural, organic skin moisturizers available. These are free of harsh chemical preservatives that can harm your skin rather than help protect it.

4. Apply Sunscreen Faithfully

You need to apply sunscreen when you’re going outdoors even if it’s not in the heat of summer. A sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 is necessary. There are many sunscreens containing organic ingredients available today. Additionally, some sunscreens contain moisturizing agents, so they do double duty in protecting your skin. Use a good sunscreen to ensure that you protect your skin from the harsh environment.

5. Always Don Your Gloves

Remember, when your mom makes all the fuss about wearing gloves during wintertime, you should consider her advice. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Choose gloves that are made of hemp or other organic material. Gloves will help your hands stay warm and dry, and will protect your skin from the harsher affects of the elements.

6. Add an Organic Oil to Your Bath

In addition to relaxing you, an organic oil bath can also hydrate your skin. A lavender bath relaxes and nourishes the skin, while calming the senses. A few drops of the oil in your bath water will do wonders for you after a tiring day at the office (or, in case of the Christmas Season, the mall).

7. Protect your Lips with Organic Lip Balm

Your lips will often get chapped during fall and winter. This is because both the use of indoor heaters and the cold elements themselves can cause lips to chap. Use an organic lip balm to help stave off chapping.. Keep the balm handy by carrying one in your pocket or purse. Sometimes you can’t predict when you will need it. If you’ve suffered from chapped lips, then you know lip balm is something you should never be without.
