There are lots of essays that are lately being put on blogs, forums and newsletters all over the worldwide internet market talking about how companies who use the main Search Engines as a marketing tool are unethical. They go on to tell us that it is only imperative to hire an upright Search Engine Optimization business or an upright Website Optimization Marketing business. So what makes any SEO system upright or underhand? If you start to think about it ethics is not something that is measurable it is more of a way of life rather than a way of really doing something. Is it really regarded as unethical when you try to trick the Search Engines or is it just classed as a stupid? Not everyone who practices what is so often referred to as shady Search Marketing tactics can be classified as being unethical, just as anyone who follows every rule that the Search Engines imply cannot automatically be classed as being ethical.
Preferably what the blogs and forums should be considering is which companies should be surmised as Website Optimization professionals and which ones are just out to make a brisk profit. This not only true in the SEO industry but in every industry and if the people that run Search Marketing
companies remember this and create a professional organization then the SEO industry will run a lot more swimmingly. So what is the interpretation of the word professional? It means: a person who has been trained and disciplined and has the expertise to perform tasks that involves making decisions, analyzing and answering problems and promoting ethics within their own field of knowledgeprofiency. Does this not hit the nail on the head?
For example, a patron approaches you to do some work on the Meta tags of their webpagewebsite. Sure it would be very alluring to take the easy option of saying yes I can tweak your Meta tags for you and you will earn some easy money. However would it be right to do if you knew that the website will probably will not receive the required traffic as it would not help it get the required Search Engine Placement wantedneeded. Not likely as this is not adjudged as professional Website Optimization.
What if another patron were to approach you and they knew exactly what they are hunting for as they have done their research on Search Marketing and SEO tactics. They are under the impression that they do not want you to work on the existing pages and wantrequire doorway pages for potential clients to click through. You know this is not best practice but it can be done and when you look at the website you notice that this is not certainly the best way to optimize it. What you observe is that the website actually contains great content and just requires tweaking in order for it to get a higher listing Search Engine Placement with themain Search Engines. You advise your patron of these findings but they are insistent on the doorway pages. What do you do? Do you try to convince them of your optimization plans or do you do the things that they want knowing that you are not in a position to turn away work? Does the client really know better than you, the SEO professional?
If it means that you do not get thework, all good and fine as you know that hand in heart that you have behaved as a good SEO professional should and that there will be other jobs where the client will take notice of your recommendations. There will be plenty other ways in which you can make up for the money you lose when rejecting work. What matters most is your prestige with the Search Engines, your long term customers and the internet community.
